Change the Graphics Controller to VBoxVGA, boot the guest, login, wait for a couple of minutes, shut it down.
Change the Graphics Controller to VBoxSVGA, boot the guest, login, wait for a couple of minutes, shut it down.
Try to install the Guest Additions again.
