AvailabilityJavaScript 1.0; enhanced in JavaScript 1.1 Synopsis<input type="submit" onclick="handler" ... > submit.onclick DescriptionThe onclick property of a Submit object refers to an event handler function that is invoked when the user clicks on the Submit button. See the HTMLElement.onclick reference page for complete details. Note, however, that Submit.onclick has been supported since JavaScript 1.0, unlike the generalized HTMLElement.onclick handler. The Submit button has the special function of submitting the form to a server. The onclick event handler may add any additional functionality to the Submit button. In JavaScript 1.1 the onclick handler may return false to prevent the Submit object from submitting the form. (For example, the onclick handler could perform form validation and return false if required fields in the form are not filled in.)
